Automotive data note

What does ‘sold’ mean in this export?

A signed deal, a delivered car, and a later status update are different events. The field label alone cannot tell an AI which one happened.

A file of vehicle-status changes arrives with a row marked sold. Did someone sign, take delivery, update the system later, or reverse the status? Each answer describes a different event.

The buyer of a dataset needs to know which event the field records and what decision the AI should make from it. Without that definition, the same column can teach conflicting lessons or make a test score meaningless.

A useful data product needs a defined task, documented source, clear field meanings, relevant context, and an explicit account of permitted uses. More volume does not correct a vague definition. It can repeat the same ambiguity many more times.

The commercial question is smaller and more concrete: what can a buyer do better with this source, under a permission that can actually be granted? Sometimes the answer is a prepared dataset, an evaluation, or a decision not to proceed.
